VidsizeVideo Compressor

Privacy Policy

Effective 23 August 2026 · Last updated 18 September 2026

The short version. Vidsize compresses your videos entirely on your phone. Your videos are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. We do not have an account system, we do not have a server that stores your files, and we cannot see your content. The only third party involved is Google AdMob, which serves the ads that keep the app free.

1. Who we are

Vidsize ("the app") is an Android application published on Google Play. In this policy, "we" and "us" refer to the developer of Vidsize. Contact details are at the end of this page.

2. Your videos

When you select a video, Vidsize reads it from your device using the Android system file picker (the Storage Access Framework), compresses it locally using your phone's own hardware, and saves the result to your device's gallery folder Movies/Vidsize.

3. Information stored on your device

Vidsize keeps a small local record of your compressions so it can show your recent activity and total space saved. This record contains the file name, original size, output size, the compression level used, and a timestamp. It is stored only in the app's private storage on your device, is never transmitted anywhere, and you can erase it at any time using Clear on the home screen or by uninstalling the app.

4. Advertising

Vidsize is free and supported by advertising delivered through Google AdMob. Vidsize has no paid tier and no subscription. These are the only ad formats the app uses:

No core feature of Vidsize depends on watching an ad. Every compression level, the full output quality, your history and sharing remain available with the small Vidsize mark. The optional reward is one mark-free export; it cannot be exchanged for anything and cannot be transferred.

Two full-screen ads are never shown within 180 seconds of each other.

To serve and measure ads, Google may automatically collect and process information including your IP address (which may be used to estimate approximate location), interactions such as app launches/taps/video views, diagnostic information such as app launch time/hang rate/energy usage, and device or account identifiers such as the Android advertising ID or app set ID.

This processing is carried out by Google, not by us — we receive only aggregate, anonymous reporting about how many ads were shown. Google's handling of this data is described in its own policies:

5. Your choices about ads

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Vidsize shows a consent form the first time you open the app, provided through Google's User Messaging Platform. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Ad privacy options inside the app.

Wherever you are, you can also limit ad personalisation at the system level through your device's settings for the advertising identifier.

If privacy choices are required for your region, Google’s User Messaging Platform may present the applicable controls and Vidsize exposes the in-app privacy-options entry point when Google marks it as required. Vidsize does not operate a separate advertising-data backend. For Google’s ad-related data and regional privacy rights, use the controls presented in the app when available and Google’s privacy controls and policies linked above.

6. Permissions the app requests

7. Children

Vidsize is a general-audience utility. It is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Data retention and deletion

We hold no personal data about you on any server, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete on your behalf. Everything Vidsize itself stores lives on your device and Android backup is disabled for the app: clear compression history with Clear on the home screen, or remove app-private data by uninstalling the app. These controls do not delete data independently processed by Google for advertising; for that data, use Google's privacy controls and policies linked in section 4.

9. Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices change — for example if analytics are added in a future version — this page will be updated and the "last updated" date at the top will change. Material changes will also be described in the Google Play release notes.
